Mold is not something that is a topic of conversation at the dinner table.  We don’t generally talk about it when we go out with friends.  It is kind of like mental illness or diarrhea or STD’s.  There are some things we just don’t talk about.  Like the other topics it should be talked about more. People need to understand it and know about it.  They need to get educated about it and then share what they know with others.

Mold can be a very dangerous thing.  It can cause health problems and respiratory infections.  If there is a long term exposure to it, mold can cause death. Mold can cause buildings to crumble and become unsafe. This could be a very dangerous situation.

After mold is found then it must be eradicated. The first thing that must be done is to fix the cause.  Usually this is moisture.  Then the mold itself must be removed. This must be done carefully so as to not spread the mold or mold spores around.

Hard surfaces should, at a minimum, should be scrubbed down with a bleach water solution. There should be no more than 1 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water in the bleach water solution. Then all surfaces that were washed should be completely air dried.

Circulation is key to making sure that the wet and damaged areas become completely dry.  This could take several days. Mold starts to grow in 24 hours. So, time is of the essence when dealing with mold.
